My quilting is custom designed specifically for your quilt. Over 95% of my quilting is hand guided on my Gammill Optimum Plus machine. This machine is modified with a stitch regulator and the Statler Stitcher computer system to allow precision, block motifs.
Custom Quilting:
One big advantage to the Statler Stitcher is that I won't have to chalk your quilt to make a precision design. I don't like to work with chalked quilts because removing chalk requires washing the quilt.
The Statler Stitcher is indispensable in getting you the most spectacular quilting possible.
Heirloom Quilting:
This applies to the more traditional detailed quilt such as a double wedding ring.
Heirloom quilts require numerous starts and stops on each block. They also require heavier quilting than a regular quilt.
There is a slight additional charge above my basic fees for heirloom type quilts.
Art Quilting:
These are the quilts where we both can let our imaginations soar!
Art quilts are often very non-traditional and will probably require a dozen or more thread changes.
If you are sending an art quilt, we should have a nice detailed chat before I quilt. Please: no beads or crystals on the quilt before the quilting.
Binding Services:
Binding services are available. I don't use "mechanical binding"--mine is all completed the "old fashioned way". If I will be making your binding please specify on the quilt detail form whether you want end to end or mitered seams. If you do not state a preference, I will make the binding seams in the same manner that you have made your borders.
Selection of Materials:
Batting:
Batting cost is included in my quilting fees. I offer 3 choices of batting: 100% Polyester, Hobbs 80% Cotton/ 20% Polyester and 100% Bleached Cotton.
I don't use "natural" cotton as I feel that it has too much organic material in it. I have had one of my personal quilts ruined from cotton oil bleeding with this type of batting.
Thread:
I carry over 500 spools of thread in inventory to select for your quilt. There is no extra charge for "specialty" threads such as the varigated type.
I carry the following lines of thread: Signature, Aurifil, Superior, YLI, Maderia, Rhinegold, PolyCore and Altaseda (rayon). All are commercial quality and should give you wonderful service.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or to make a reservation.
